Trainers in Development
Gretchen McMichael
Gretchen loves instructing and helping people and dogs learn how to work as a team. She began down this career path in 2007 by obtaining her Certificate III in Dog Behavior and Training from the National Dog Trainers Federation of Australia. This was an intensive 8 month long course requiring the mastery of theory and over 100 hrs of supervised hands on time with many dogs. The learning process has never stopped as she continues to attend seminars and classes with her own dog.
Gretchen's latest dog, Zelie (photo at left) has helped her empathize for those attending her puppy class (especially the people with the gnawed hands!) Together they are having fun as they engage in obedience, tricks, hiking, snuggling and disc dog work. Gretchen, her husband and Zelie are now preparing for the new challenge of adding a baby to the household! She is sure to be learning all kinds of new things.
Gretchen is a member of the Association of Pet Dog trainers (APDT) and is continuing to learn more about the field of dog training through her mentoring at Behave and by instructing and assisting with our classes. She is also working towards becoming a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA).
